In honor of the 90th anniversary of the Kirovsky District, a project was launched to tell the townspeople about the district's history. Five bus stops on Vavilova Street were decorated in a single style. They now present information about the district's historical landmarks.
For example, at the "Technical School" bus stop residents will learn about the Krasnoyarsk Shipbuilding Center. Initially, it was a backwater for wintering of ships and their repairing. Later, it was renamed the Krasnoyarsk Ship Repair Yard. During the Great Patriotic War, it produced anti-personnel mines and built warships.
While waiting for a bus at the "City Archive" bus stop, residents will learn about the history of the temple complex behind the Enthusiasts Square. In the past, there used to be a river port on the current site of the St. Nicholas Church. From there, prisoners were sent on barges to Norilsk to build a metallurgical plant.
The bus stop at 57 Vavilova Street will remind Krasnoyarsk residents of the Sibtyazhmash plant. Its workers ensured the production of cranes and freight locomotives, grenades and mortars, bringing the Great Victory closer.
At the "Public order volunteer Kornetov" bus stop, residents will learn about the young man after whom a small street in the Kirovsky District is named. Vladislav Kornetov worked as a mechanic at a machine-building plant and was a member of a volunteer people's militia. He perished at the hands of a criminal while protecting the townspeople.
The "TYUZ (Youth Theater)" bus stop will tell the story of the creation of the Youth Theater, the development of Youth Square and the fountain with the Harlequin and Columbine sculpture.
It is great to see that the city residents enjoy our "historical gallery". They study the information, look at the photographs while waiting for their buses. We have received a lot of positive feedback, residents are asking to continue the project on other streets.Evgeny Burmistrov, head of the Kirovsky District Administration
