18.10.2024The Museum Night titled "Somnambula", which will offer its visitors performance art, music, theatre etc. on all five floors of the Ploschad Mira ("Peace" Square) museum complex, will take place on November 2.
The programme of the event will include blind (literally) tours and whisper tours in headphones, a public sleep performance, a lecture on dreams and visions in art, workshops dedicated to hand-tufted rugs, sleep masks and interior decor.
The theme of the night is, among other things, inspired by the large project "Dreams of Siberia" (an immersive exhibition telling about the ancient and medieval past of Siberia and the Far East) about the combination of archeology and contemporary art, which will open the day before.
— Where do we find ourselves when we fall asleep? Is it the dark corners of our unconscious, shrouded in the primordial, the mysterious kingdom of Morpheus or a parallel reality copied from ours? How are our dreams formed? Where does our mind get those surreal plots and images from? What happens to our subconscious while we sleep? What makes us wander at night without waking up? Perhaps dreams reflect our fears, desires and experiences? And is it possible to understand that secret by interpreting night visions?
The Museum Night of 2024 "Somnambula" will offer you the opportunity to get answers to these questions, immersing you in the ephemerality of dreams, or ask new ones, delving into the interpretation of metaphors and the study of the mysterious. After all, is there a better place for sleepwalking than our Square of Peace?
