Siberian Federal University hosts 6 international schools during the summer 2019
In July – August 2019, 6 international summer schools will be held by
the Siberian Federal University with the support of the Project 5-100. Over 200 foreigners are expected to attend.

Head of Department for International Cooperation, person in charge of the project of international summer schools in
the Siberian Federal University Pavel Lapo says: “International summer schools (ISS) are quite costly, but they allow solving certain applied and topical tasks. Most important of all, they help the implementation of English-language educational programs by our teachers. We also shouldn’t forget about the university image component. Even if not all the students that come to us for summer classes continue their studies in the SFU, it generally creates a positive image of the university, Krasnoyarsk city and Russia.”
One of the “oldest” international schools in
the Siberian Federal University is the summer school for foreigners studying Russian language. This year it will be held for the ninth time.

“We often meet our former students in
the Siberian Federal University, but in a new role - they come to take part in the scientific laboratories and various conferences. There are examples of joint articles published by the SFU employees and participants of the summer school, - noted Tatiana Verenich, curator of
the School of Philology and Language Communication international summer school. - It is important that the students of
the School of Philology and Language Communication of
the Siberian Federal University take an active part in summer school events. In fact, for a whole month, we are creating an English-language environment, helping our students not to drop out of the learning process during extracurricular time. The summer school also helps to form volunteer and translation competencies that young professionals have already successfully demonstrated by participating in
the Universiade 2019. ”
The Russian-German International Summer School on Global Entrepreneurship organized by
the SFU School of Business Management and Economics has also become traditional. For the third year in a row, it is visited by future economists and managers of the oil and gas industry, representatives of mechanical engineering, energy, transport, mining and metallurgy, and construction. This year the “students” guided by foreign experts need to develop an innovative business model or business practice that supports the concept of sustainable development.
The SFU Summer Law School offers three educational programs in German. German students will learn the basics of Russian environmental law, while Russian students will study German law in the field of ecology. The third program - in English - will help to understand the nuances of international contracts in the oil and gas industry.
In addition, there will be schools in economics, sociology and ecology:
- V International Summer School "New financial technologies in the digital transformation of the economy";
- “Sustainable construction in urbanized areas. Sustainable development of the region";
- III International Summer Youth School "Polycultural Mediation in Education".
Students from Europe will study Russian language in Siberian Federal University

“This time, none of the students have a zero-level of Russian, everyone came with a fairly good knowledge of the Russian language. Every year we manage to create a unique and comfortable multicultural space, for example, there are no age restrictions: the oldest school participant is 72 years old. In addition to face-to-face seminars and classes, an online lecture of the University of Cadiz professor Javier de Cos is scheduled, as well as excursions in Krasnoyarsk, visiting museums and a traditional workshop on pelmeni making,” said one of the organizers, Director of
the SFU Spanish Language Center, Olga Gevel.

Lecturer and lawyer Salvador Luna participates in summer school for the second time: “The first time I came to Krasnoyarsk, which was 3 years ago, I really enjoyed it and wanted to come back. I studied Russian in Cadiz, as it is necessary and useful for my profession in Spain - I am a lawyer. After my first visit, I had a lot of friends in Krasnoyarsk, and this school also provides an excellent opportunity to improve my Russian, which I already need to work in Russia: at the moment I live in Vologda and teach Spanish and International Law in Russian there”.
Cooperation agreement signed by Siberian Federal University and University of Teramo
“Our
Law School has a wide network of international relations, in particular, with universities in Germany, Great Britain, and Spain. Cooperation with representatives of the Italian law school is new for us and is very interesting both from the point of view of the mobility of teachers and students, and from the point of view of joint research in the mainstream of international relations and comparative law,” noted Irina Shishko.
