Movies from Russia, Belarus, Egypt, Iran, India, Argentina, the Netherlands, Mexico and other countries are included in the programme of the festival. In total, "Hero" presents 100 films from 28 countries. About 30 directors from four participating countries are to personally take part in the festival, according to Yenisei Cinema General Director Irina Belova:

— The International Film Festival for Children and Youth "Geroy" finally started today. <…> A delegation of about 30 people visited us to celebrate it with us. <…> They are some of the directors of the films. Most full-length works will be presented by the creators personally, specifically those from China, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

According to the president of the Festival, film director Vladimir Grammatikov, such festivals help promote cinema for children and youth:

— I believe that, of course, a very fundamental decision on children's films was made when the state took over the financing of such films. The fact of the matter is that the Ministry of Culture provides 70% of the film's budget, while the remaining 30% had to be found. <…> Most often the money would not be easily found. And that's why we didn't have children's production projects, such as powerful fairy tales, fantasy stories. But a festival like "Hero" also helps viewers appreciate what is being filmed today.
