The VIII Russia-China exhibition held in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, has been taking place for 10 years now, and the two countries switch between each other hosting every year. The Exhibition is an important trade and industrial platform that promotes the expansion and diversification of partnership between Russia and China.

The start of the EXPO was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the opening ceremony, the heads of the two states greeted the exhibition participants and spoke about the importance of relations between the two countries.

The Krasnoyarsk Region took part in the EXPO events as well, bringing a large delegation headed by the Governor of the Region.

During the plenary session of the Russian-Chinese forum dedicated to international cooperation, the Governor Mikhail Kotyukov noted both the existing experience of mutually beneficial cooperation between the region and China and the presence of new, potentially successful joint projects.

Over the past 5 years, trade turnover between the Krasnoyarsk Region and the regions of China has more than doubled; the potential for cooperation is significant.

According to Mikhail Kotyukov, given our strong engineering school, the region is ready to localize new production facilities.

— We are most interested in the field of raw material extraction and processing, as well as a higher value material to export in general. For example, we plan to gradually transition to the complete processing of the rapeseed grown locally to export oil instead of the seed. Considering the strong engineering school and mechanical engineering experience in the region, we are ready to localize new production facilities. The region is also interested to learn about unmanned aircraft system creation and microelectronics. With the participation of Chinese partners, we are ready to produce special equipment for agriculture and logging in the region, and organize assembly plants.

Several projects are already being implemented in the Krasnoyarsk Region together with Chinese companies, specifically in timber and wood processing, as well as the production of OSB (oriented strand boards). A number of investment projects are currently in negotiations, too.

Negotiations with potential investors were held by representatives of the ANO "Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation". More than 15 Chinese companies have expressed their interest in jointly implementing infrastructure projects.

The representatives of the Chinese business community are interested in establishing transport and logistics centers, industrial parks, and tourism infrastructure facilities.

During the discussions, potential investors were presented projects for added-value processing of minerals, agricultural products and wood, and the possibilities of localizing mechanical engineering production in the Region. Following the meetings, the parties reached an agreement on a visit of investors to the Krasnoyarsk Region, during which investment sites will be presented to the guests in detail.
